Last night was the book launch for the new version of Cheap Eats Ottawa. The new version has lots of familiar Ottawa foodie institutions and plenty of new reviews. Like pho. Seriously, there are a lot of pho places around these days.
Hot off the presses- you can buy a copy online or in stores today! Valentines gift you say?
Here’s a peak of my profile - to read my recommendations just pick up a copy. It’s a bargain!

Wow, how’d you score that gig? Cheap eats was like my bible when I lived in Ottawa. I’m with you on Ceylonta (I knew I went there VERY often when the waiter commented on my recent hair trim). My other favs are Mee Xim on Somerset, Pho Bo Ga La (the one in front of Mee Xim, not the other ones who somehow don’t taste the same), Jadeland and its spicy schezuan soup and East African Restaurant. I have been craving that mixed platter for over a year.
Say what you want about Ottawa, the food scene is quite exceptional for a medium-sized city.
The more I read through the whole book, the more I realize there are SO MANY PLACES still to try in this city. And I thought I was a “foodie”!
I keep trying to find a green curry that compares to the ones near work in Gatineau. Gatineau has green curry down to a science I tell you.
